Ministry to the communities:

Because of an outflow of our love for God and His desire to see people live out their destinies, we take time each week to share this love practically with those around us. In addition to building personal relationships with people in need, our base is committed as a body to investing into our community through regular ministry. New opportunities frequently arise to provide support for individuals and families, and we are open to serve where God opens the door.

Community Empowerment Centre:

Suni

The aim of the Community Empowerment Centre (CEC) Initiative of YWAM and the Community is to educate and empower the formally disadvantaged people of Pellsrus and Tokyo Sexwale, two poor communities in Jeffrey’s Bay. At the CEC, students are taught computer skills in order to improve their chances of gaining employment. This in turn reduces problems such as crime, drug and alcohol abuse in the community. Through relationships with these students, they are led to Christ and discipled redirecting them into other training programs that will further benefit them. The community Empowerment Centre is fully functional and seeks people with skills in Computer repair and training who would want to be involved.

Kid Zone:

Kid Zone ministers to the "street kids" of Jeffrey’s Bay. Working in partnership with the interchurch-led Joshua Project, various YWAM staff use creative arts and other activities to disciple, educate and relate to under-privileged children in Jeffrey’s Bay. The Staff use Bible education to uplift the children, teach them that everyone is unique and valuable and reflect the Father heart of God in all activities in the program.

Child Sponsorship Fund:

This project offers selected families who cannot afford to send their children to school with the necessary sponsorship. Often situations at home cause children from disadvantaged communities to drop out of school at an early age. As a result they don’t receive the education they require to escape the vicious circle of poverty. Two such children were identified and their schooling was sponsored for a year. Since then, an extended sponsorship has been organised for them with another missionary organisation. A bank account has been set up specifically for this project.

Local Farm Ministries:

The staff of YWAM JBay reach out to an impoverished community in Andries Kraal, a farm workers' village in the Gamtoos Valley near Jeffrey's Bay. The team have been working with the community leaders to assess local needs. Their aim is to bring hope and education to a community where illiteracy and HIV/AIDS are high and where local church leaders are untrained and lack resources. The local government has asked the team to assist the children with schools. Many children attending the state-run schools are unevangelized and have little hope of bettering their lives.

The team has freedom to preach in the public schools and bring outreach teams in to do creative presentations of the Gospel. They will also conduct emergency repairs on the dilapidated village school facilities.

Aids support Ministry:

Because of different sponsorship we are able to on a monthly base feed ten families affected by HIV/Aids. Every month the families are supplied by a food parcel containing fresh vegetables, fruit, tinned food, rice, coffee, tea, sugar, washing powder, dishwashing liquid and so much more.

With receiving the food parcel the people also receive information about HIV/Aids. The goal is to give them a truthful report about HIV/Aids, the way it is (or is not) transmitted, about ARV (Anti Retro Viral medication) and guidelines for life.

It is our desire to expend this ministry. The Aids support ministry is fully depending on (your) donations.
